JOSEPH STEBBINS DEAD

Passed Away at Home in Kansas City Yesterday
Funeral Services at the Knell Chapel Here Tomorrow Afternoon at 2 O'clock

Joseph Card STEBBINS, formerly of Carthage and well known here, died at his home 
in Kansas City at 9 o'clock yesterday morning following a six weeks' serious illness 
from complications. He had been in failing health several months.

The body was brought to Carthage arriving here this morning. It was accompanied by 
Mrs. STEBBINS, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth STEBBINS; Edmond PEUGNET, a stepson; 
Mr. and Mrs. Robert ORCHARD of Ottawa, Kans.; Thomas ORCHARD and Mrs. J.W. 
AUSTIN, of Carrolton, Mo.; The latter being uncles and aunts.

Funeral services will be held at the Knell chapel at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The 
Rev. D.W. MOORE of Liberty, Mo., formerly of Carthage, will have charge. Burial will
be in Park cemetery, where the services will be private.

Mr. STEBBINS went to Kansas City from Carthage ten years ago. He was born and 
reared in Carthage and for some years associated with his father, G.W. STEBBINS, in 
the stone industry here. Moving to Kansas City be became connected with the 
Independent Electrical Machinery Company as salesman and stockholder and had 
been very successful
in business there. He was a fine singer and had often appeared in grand opera. He 
had been president of the Kansas City Grand Opera Company the last two years and 
was also
a member of the Ivanhoe Comic Opera Company. He was 44 years old.

Surviving relatives are the widow who before her marriage to Mr. STEBBINS was Mrs. 
Lucile Brown PEUGNET of this city and a daughter of Mrs. E.O. Brown; two stepsons, 
Edmund PEUGNET and Hamilton PEUGNET; the mother and one sister, Mrs. Ruth
BRISBEN, the latter of Carthage. Hamilton PEUGNET is in Los Angeles Calif., and is 
not coming to attend the funeral.

NOTE: Mrs. Ruth BRISBEN was Ruth STEBBINS. She was married to James P. 
BRISBEN sometime after 1910. James P. BRISBEN was my great grandfather.
